Canadian Agricultural Income Stabilization Inventory Transition Initiative Remission Order

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, considering that it is in the public interest to do so, on the recommendation of the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food and the Treasury Board, pursuant to subsection 23(2.1) (see footnote a) of the Financial Administration Act (see footnote b), hereby remits any interest owing to Her Majesty in right of Canada as a result of overpayments to participants in the Canadian Agricultural Income Stabilization Inventory Transition Initiative, including interest for which liability has already arisen and interest for which liability arises in the future.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order.)

The Order grants remission of debts, both accrued and pending, that are associated with interest on overpayments to participants under the Canadian Agricultural Income Stabilization Inventory Transition Initiative. This will harmonize the treatment of that interest with the treatment of similar interest under the related Canadian Agricultural Income Stabilization program, in which the affected producers also participate. The total amount to be remitted is estimated at $147,461.
