AN ACT TO AMEND THE CANADIAN ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION ACT, 1999

Order Fixing September 28, 2009 as the Date of the Coming into Force of the Act

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of the Environment, pursuant to section 6 of An Act to Amend the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999, chapter 31 of the Statutes of Canada, 2008, hereby fixes September 28, 2009 as the day on which that Act comes into force.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

An Act to Amend the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 (the “Act”) was assented to on June 26, 2008.

The Act amends the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 to provide for the efficient regulation of fuels.

It provides for a periodic and comprehensive review of the environmental and economic aspects of biofuel production in Canada by a committee of Parliament.

The Act also provides for greater flexibility for several regulatory programs under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 to distinguish among regulatees.
