FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATION ACT
P.C. 2009-878 June 4, 2009
Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, considering that the collection of the tax is unjust, on the recommendation of the Minister of National Revenue, pursuant to subsection 23(2) (see footnote a) of the Financial Administration Act (see footnote b), hereby remits tax in the amount of $588, and all relevant interest on it, paid or payable under Part I of the Income Tax Act (see footnote c) by Jared Torgerson for the 1992 taxation year.
EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order.)
The Order remits the income tax, and all relevant interest on it, paid or payable by Jared Torgerson for the 1992 taxation year.
The amount remitted represents the amount of tax that is the result of an error committed by a Canada Revenue Agency official when Mr. Torgerson’s 1992 income tax return was assessed in June 1993. Because of circumstances beyond his control, Mr. Torgerson could not take the appropriate steps to have the error corrected at the time.
