The following notice of proposed revocation was sent to the charity listed below revoking it for failure to meet the parts of the Income Tax Act as listed in this notice:
“Notice is hereby given, pursuant to paragraphs 168(1)(b), 168(1)(d) and 168(1)(e) of the Income Tax Act, that I propose to revoke the registration of the organization listed below under subsection 149.1(2) of the Income Tax Act and that the revocation of the registration is effective on the date of publication of this notice.”

The Commission clarifies issues for licensees of commercial radio stations with respect to Canadian content development (CCD) contributions. The Commission discusses deadlines for making “over and above” contributions, exceptions to the requirement to contribute to FACTOR and MUSICACTION, as well as CCD information that must be filed with annual returns.

NOTICE OF CONSULTATION 2009-254
Call for comments on the proposed addition of Al Jazeera English to the lists of eligible satellite services for distribution on a digital basis
The Commission received a request dated February 27, 2009, from Ethnic Channels Group Limited (ECGL) for the addition of Al Jazeera English (AJE), a non-Canadian, English-language satellite service originating in Qatar, to the lists of eligible satellite services for distribution on a digital basis (the digital lists). The documents related to this request are available on the Commission’s Web site at www.crtc.gc.ca under “Public Proceedings.”
The Commission calls for comments on ECGL’s request for the addition of AJE to the digital lists. Parties submitting comments on the request should also submit a true copy of their comments to the Canadian sponsor, ECGL, at the following address:

The Commission will not formally acknowledge comments. It will, however, fully consider all comments, and they will form part of the public record of the proceeding, provided that the procedures for filing set out below have been followed.
