AMENDMENT
1. Section 1 of the English version of the Direction to the CRTC (Reservation of Channels for the Distribution of CPAC) (see footnote 1) is amended by replacing the expression "Canadian Public Affairs Channel (CPAC)" with the expression "Cable Public Affairs Channel (CPAC)".
COMING INTO FORCE
2. This Order comes into force on the day on which it is registered.
REGULATORY IMPACT ANALYSIS STATEMENT
(This statement is not part of the Order.)
Description
The purpose of this Order is to amend the English-language version of the Order registered on March 22, 2005 (SOR/2005-60) which issued a direction to the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC). The amendment to the English-language versions of the Order and the direction will allow them to conform more precisely with the French-language versions with respect to the reference to the name of the CPAC service ("Cable" Public Affairs Channel) and the reference to direct-to-home "satellite" distribution undertakings. The French-language version of the Order and direction remains unchanged.
Alternatives
The Government considered the alternative of not amending the Order, but decided the public interest would be best served if the error was corrected.
Benefits and Costs
The Direction will not entail any additional cost to the Government.
Consultation
No consultation was required.
